A wide-eyed teenager when she left the sunny shores of Almeria in southern Spain for Madrid, Carmen was on a mission to learn all there was to know about advertising. She spent ten years in agencies – driving awareness for Jaguar and Toyota, making Olay and Ariel sparkle, and giving Red Bull wings. These days she helps out on a freelance basis, providing strategy, creative consultation, copywriting and transcreation.
Outside of advertising, she’s a lifestyle editor for Vanity Fair, a scriptwriter for Audible and the author of many novels and children’s books. And, as if one formidable creative in the family wasn’t enough, she’s published a number of comics with her illustrator sister. Fundamentally, Carmen is just a good writer, of the sort who can swivel from copywriter to columnist, screenwriter to social media whizz, translator to trends editor, adapting her style and approach as she goes.
