And the gamble seems to have paid off. Gabriel toured some of the city’s biggest agencies; places like JWT, Neogama/BBH and Young & Rubicam, making advertising for the likes of Samsung, Unilever and Google. His work is bold, conceptual, and tends to turn heads. But, according to Gabriel, he’s not afraid to tackle the lot: ‘taglines, manifestos, flyers, emails.’ Tone of voice work? ‘I don’t have kids, but I can name your newborn brand and teach it how to write.'
Seeking fresh challenges and a change of scene, Gabriel recently moved again, this time to Toronto. After a number of years in the industry, he still believes that ‘properly executed, advertising can be one of the most rewarding professions there is’.
